"For physical training is of some value, but godliness has value for all things, holding promise for both the present life and the life to come." 1 Timothy 4:8 (NIV)

This past weekend (Month even) has been a very busy one. It often happens that when life ramps up, we cut the unimportant things out of our lives in order to accomplish the tasks we identify as most critical. To all my followers, I want to apologize for my having cutting this portion of my life out for a period of time and I will do my best to have more consistency.

A years ago, the United States Army deployed a digital "fitness" test to its soldiers and certain respondents received a message that read,

"Spiritual fitness may be an area of difficulty. You may lack a sense of meaning and purpose in your life. At times, it is hard for you to make sense of what is happening to you and to others around you. You may not feel connected to something larger than yourself. You may question your beliefs, principles and values. Improving your spiritual fitness should be an important goal."

The argument for this response was that researchers had found  decreased odds of attemptive suicide, and that spiritual fitness has a positive impact on quality of life, on coping and on mental health. Although it is important to take care of the body that God has given us, Paul reminds us that it is even more important to look after the spiritual aspects of your life.  Is your spiritual gauge sitting on empty? If so, maybe its time to get in some Spiritual PT to refill and strengthen yourself.

  1. Why is the work out called Mary and are we allowed to use the wall for handstand push ups?

    1. The Workouts have female names because that is what they are called by Crossfit HQ. According to the CEO of Crossfit, Greg Glassman this is why: “I want to explain the workout once and then give it a name. I thought that anything that left you flat on your back, looking up at the sky asking ‘what just happened to me?’ deserved a females name. Workouts are just like storms, they wreak havoc on towns.”

And yes, you can use a wall for the handstand pushups.
